Update...I took my Leadership and Management final. It was awful. But only one more test of my college career. Can you believe it?!?

Super Busy

So Mike and I have been super busy lately. Mike preached this past weekend up at Hope Lutheran Church in Farmington, MN. It is a pretty small mission church but everyone there was so nice and welcoming. We had a great time and as usual, Mike did a wonderful job. Afterwards, we ran a couple of errand since we were up in the cities, and my favorite part was that it snowed on the way home! I love snow and winter so I was really excited. I'm especially excited this year because Mike and I are hoping to make a couple trips to Mount Kato and go downhill skiing this year.

I've been keeping busy with school. I have tons of studying to do since I take my finals this Thursday and this coming Monday. I can't believe I am actually going to be done with school. It's so hard to believe and I'm really ready to be done. After these finals, I'm hoping it will be smooth sailing. I'll still have my synthesis to do which is 120 hours of clinical experience and a bunch of papers and journaling, but from here on out it is pass/fail and no more tests! I'll be starting with my nurse mentor in Same Day Care at ISJ Hospital on Wednesday November 5. Mike and I have been so blessed that I have a close synthesis site and one with great hours so I can still work.

Mike is busy with his school work as usual. He is also working at DQ still and now helping a friend of mine from work finish remodeling his house. Mike doesn't know too much about this stuff but Dustin is willing to teach him and show him the ropes. It's a good experience for Mike to learn how to be a "handy man" and I'm thrilled that he'll be learning how to do more around the house.

Oscar is his crazy kitty self as usual. We took him out a couple of times in the snow on Sunday. Needless to say it was not one of his favorite things to do. He is on a grain free diet now because the vet said he needed to lose a few pounds. Since cutting him off from grains, I've discovered he is a carbaholic...just like me. He is always begging for bites of our bread or rice now.

Mike and I both set goals to eat healthier. So I'm trying all kinds of new healthy recipes and I'll post some good ones on here. We'll try them and pass on whether they are good or not. Maybe I'll even take pictures of them so there can be some eye appeal.

Wow It's Been Quite Awhile

Well so much for starting to blog regularly this summer. Well, now it is fall and school is in full swing. I'm in my last semester of nursing school, and I am so pumped to get done with school and starting working as an RN. I have a job lined up at ISJ for when I graduate which is so exciting and one less thing for me to have to worry about. Now about passing those boards...

Things are busy for us right now! I'm doing school and working tons to save up for an NCLEX review course. Mike spent weeks and weeks looking for a job this fall and finally ended up going back to Dairy Queen. So, he's pretty busy with school and work. It feels like we never see each other. This past Friday, we were both of work and actually got to see each other and go on a date. It was nice getting to spend more than 30 minutes together. Oscar is doing pretty good too. I think he misses us being around like we were this summer. I feel bad for the little guy having to spend so much time home alone.

We got out synthesis sites for nursing school and even though I was number 38, I got my first choice! Unbelievable. So, I'll be doing my synthesis at ISJ in Same Day Surgery. Can you believe it?!? I won't have to commute and I'll still be able to work plenty at ISJ. It really feels like everything is starting to come together and that I'm getting one step closer to our "real lives".

As if we can handle adding anything else to our millions of things to do, Mike has 2 preaching opportunities lined up for this fall already. On October 12 we'll be going down to Jerico, Iowa and on November 16 Mike is preaching at my home church that I grew up in. That will be so exciting and very special for me. Well, I think I've put off studying for my Leadership and Mangagement Test long enough.

Well Here It Goes...

Well I've never done this whole blogging thing before, but it seems like a great way to keep everyone informed about what is going on in our busy life. So...here it goes. Right now, both Mike and I are on summer vacation and believe it or not are seeing even less of each other than we did during the school year! Mike just finished his first year at Seminary and is working at BLC for the summer cleaning out the dorms. I've finished my 4th semester of nursing school (only one more left!!) and am working at ISJ Hospital on the Cardio-Pulmonary floor. On June 9th I'll be going on-call so I can do a nursing internship at ISJ in the Home Health Care Department. It's a pretty sweet deal because it is Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm with no weekends. I'm hoping the summer goes fast because I can't wait to get back to school and finish my last semester and graduate in December.
